About Me

My name is Catarina Matos, I’m a trauma somatic therapist.

Since I can remember I always had deep curiosity and passion for the potential of the human being and the connections between mind, body, and spirit. Through time, this passion became my purpose that turned into helping people reconnect with themselves and navigate their healing journeys. 

After graduating in Psychology, my professional journey has led me to work with diverse populations, including individuals struggling with addiction and children as well as teenagers from highly dysfunctional environments.

I then specialized in helping individuals heal from trauma using the innovative Triple Vagal Method™ (TVM™) a scientific, non-invasive, body-based Somatic Therapy. At the moment I'm on the way of becoming a certified Breathwork Practitioner and Instructor. 

I’ve walked (and I'm still walking) the path of healing and know how overwhelming it can feel. My own journey showed me how deeply our past can shape our present, how unprocessed trauma and nervous system dysregulation can hold us back. 

But I've also experienced firsthand the freedom that TVM™, brings and how it can transform lives - helping people break free from old patterns, let go of emotional blockages and bring harmony to the body and mind.

Now, my goal is to support you on your journey to create a life of balance, clarity, and resilience, where healing feels possible and growth becomes empowering. Whether you’re just beginning or already on the path, you’re so welcome here.

Fluent in Portuguese and English, and also confortable with Spanish and Italian, I love working with people from all walks of life who are ready to take steps toward well-being.

My Aproach

 

Trauma, whether physical or emotional, significantly impacts the human body. If left unaddressed, these stored traumas can manifest as physical and emotional pain, leading to blockages that disrupt overall well-being. This can result in a dysregulated nervous system and negatively affect both physical and mental health.

As so, my belief is deeply rooted in the understanding that the body paired with the mind hold the key to true healing. Therefore, my approach blends my professional expertise and background in Psychology with Somatics (TVM™) and Breathwork, focusing on creating a space where you can feel safe, supported, and truly seen.

This method facilitates a rapid shift from the sympathetic (threat) to the parasympathetic (rest and digest) system, overcoming cognitive limitations of other interventions and providing instant emotional trauma release and transformation.

What to expect

 

TVM™ is a bottom-up somatic approach that promotes healing by working with the Fascia, a complex network of connective tissue that wraps around and supports every cell, muscle, and organ in the body.

During a session, clients can expect a deeply immersive experience that involves physical stimulation and pressure in certain points of the body to break down calcifications of the fascia caused by trauma.

This results in releases from the nervous system, completing unresolved cycles, increasing oxytocin, and reducing cortisol levels

This process may trigger various responses such as tetany, emotional release, sweating, coughing, crying, shaking, vomiting, or mild psychedelic experiences. The goal is to allow the nervous system to process and let go of these traumas.
