Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Triple Vagal Method™?

The Triple Vagal Method™ (TVM™) is a somatic trauma transformation technique developed over 7 years through extensive research andthousands of sessions. It’s a body-based somatic therapy designed to regulate the nervous system, build vagal tone and promote physical and emotional well-being. It aims to release and heal trauma by physically engaging the main branches of the vagus nerve, which controls responses such as fight or flight, freeze, and social engagement.

What is the basis of TVM™?

TVM™ is based on the polyvagal theory and understands that the body stores trauma in various parts of the nervous system, soft tissue, and organs. Through structured surges and controlled time periods, TVM™ supports neuroplasticity, helping reprogram trauma response pathways. The method incorporates elements from ancient somatic embodiment practices and modern neuroscience to maximize effectiveness across diverse age groups and conditions.

How is TVM™ applied?

The nerves are communicating to your brain information at the state of your being - if the tissue is contracted or the fascia is calcified then the nerves are signaling stress and threat. TVM™ involves pressing specific pressure points on the body to break down fascia calcified by trauma, facilitating rapid healing and trauma transformation.

What are the risks of TVM™?

As TVM™ can trigger a significant nervous system response, it is essential to get clearance from your primary healthcare provider if there are any pre-existing conditions of some importance. The risk of Reassociation is something to have in consideration, involving the process of reconnecting with sensations previously dissociated due to trauma. This can cause discomfort, intense physical and emotional pain, and potential re-traumatization if resisted. Being mindful of these risks and having a supportive network can help manage the challenges during reassociation.

What is dissociation and reassociation?

Dissociation occurs when the body disconnects from intense sensations of an event, leading to incomplete trauma processing. When you disassociate, you take all the things that are uncomfortable or overwhelming and numb them out. Reassociation is the process of reconnecting with these sensations and feelings as they come online. Meaning that things can get worse before they get better but is necessary for healing.

What can I expect during a TVM™ session?

TVM™ is a body-based approach to releasing trauma, increasing oxytocin, decreasing cortisol, and breaking down calcified fascia. During a session, physical stimulation of the vagus nerve may cause the resurgence of trapped traumas, leading to responses such as tetany, emotional release, sweating, coughing, crying, shaking, vomiting, or mild psychedelic experiences. The goal is to allow the nervous system to process and release trapped traumas.

How long do TVM™ sessions last?

Sessions typically last 1.5-2 hours, aiming for 2-3 cycles of nervous system engagement to build vagal tone.

What should I wear to a TVM™ session?

Wear comfortable clothing (no jeans, underwired bras, or buttoned shirts). Layer your clothing as body temperature may fluctuate.

What should I do after a TVM™ session?

After a session, take time to ground yourself, hydrate, and rest. Avoid big plans immediately after. Supportive practices include journaling, drawing, spending time in nature, and eating nourishing meals. Be gentle with yourself for 24-48 hours post-session, hydrating well and reducing nervous system stimuli.
